With prior work chronicling the women’s movement through Poster Women, Zubaan is also currently engaged in working on multiple projects focusing on cultural and knowledge production, partnering and collaborating with women’s unions, collectives, grassroots activists, etc. across the region

Position: Finance Officer

Location: New Delhi (Hybrid)

Budget: INR 8 L pa (Negotiable for Best-in-class candidates)


Purpose of the Role: To ensure efficient financial management and the overall health of the organization, and to oversee its daily accounting needs.


Role & Responsibilities:


Organization’s Finances, Budgets, and Financial Accountability


• Assessment of the organization’s financial requirements, updating and alerting for changes in requirements to relevant personnel regularly.

• Preparation of organizational budget, before the start of the Financial Year, with feedback from the Managing Trustee, Programme and Finance Heads, etc. and implementing the same.

• Assessing the financial needs of each new project in consultation with Programme Heads and Finance Head and Managing Trustee.

• Preparation of budgets for new and existing projects, in consultation with Programme Heads.

• Preparation of Financial Reports as required by funders, whether quarterly/half yearly/annual and on completion of any project.

• Monitor programme expenditure and regularly update Programme Heads and individual project leads to track expenditure on individual projects and ensure seamless functioning between project and finance departments.

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial and compliance processes to ensure accurate financial reporting, adherence to regulatory requirements, and operational efficiency.


Day-To-Day Accounts


• Oversee the preparation of accounting entries and reconcile general ledgers

• Ensure that the Organization’s Cyclical Accounting Processes are followed

• Ensure that the data on expenses incurred on all projects and general expenses in Zubaan are fed into the accounting software Tally

• Provide detailed analysis and explanation of transactions?

• Work on the Organization’s Accounts Payable functions- Vendor Invoice Payment, ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments and manage vendor contracts, consultants, payments and claims

• Review monthly financial and various detailed analysis

• Review of quarterly TDS data

• Review monthly bank reconciliation

• Oversee preparation of payroll and tax reports, as well as, answering and processing vendor services


Auditors And Audited Reports


• Liaising with auditors for timely preparation of balance sheets and filing audited accounts

• Ensuring that all required material for the audit is submitted to auditors in time.

• Keeping track of changes relating to NGOs in income tax rules and communicating these to the Managing Trustee, Finance and Programme Heads in writing keeping implementation deadlines in mind.
