Varanasi work

We are working with 1300 low incomes, scheduled caste rural women (socio-economically disadvantaged) in Chiraigaon Block of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in creating sustainable livelihood through the Self-Help Group (SHG) model. For the last 7 years Sampark has been actively working in 12 villages of Chiraigaon Block which has now increased to 15 villages. In this process we have formed more than 100 SHGs and work with approximately 1300 women. After bringing the women into saving, loan and repayment discipline the current focus has been derived towards livelihood and enterprise development of rural women along with social empowerment. We conduct many activities and trainings for the SHG women every month on different themes for instance, financial literacy, leadership, Papad and Pickle training etc. We are focusing on women who can start any small-scale business and support them.

Responsibilities for Field Coordinator

• Identifying new groups and monitoring SHG groups and book writing

• Maintaining allocated villages SHGs and reporting problematic groups

• Checking of SHG monthly reports and entry of the transactions in the application

• Monitoring CRP & YC

• Identifying and training SHG women for livelihoods training

• Smooth functioning of community training centres and coordinating with women for making pickles, papad and agarbatti

• Discussion with women on starting their own or group small-scale business

• Documentation of case stories, photos and training updates

• Submission of invoices and vouchers on time

• Regular updates on work done

• Willingness to travel

Qualification

• Master degree in development or social sector

• Candidates with 3-5 years’ experience can apply

• Working knowledge of MS Office, Google sheets & slides etc.

Location & Remuneration

• Location – Chiraigaon block, Varanasi (full-time, work from office)

• Remuneration will depend upon the candidate’s experience and competency.
