Job Description

Position Title: Livelihood Officer

Location: Puri District, Odisha, India

Reports to: Team Leader

Role Overview:

The Livelihood Officer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and monitoring of livelihood enhancement activities under the CSV project. This includes promoting diversified livelihood options, building market linkages, and ensuring the integration of climate-resilient practices into the local economy.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and promote non-farm income sources such as handicrafts, beekeeping, poultry farming, fisheries, and agro-processing.

Establish market linkages to facilitate access to markets through cooperatives, farmer producer organizations, and digital platforms.

Conduct training sessions and workshops for small and marginal farmers on climate-resilient agriculture and natural resource management.

Facilitate participatory consultations with local communities to ensure their active involvement and acceptance of livelihood interventions.

Monitor the progress of livelihood enhancement activities and prepare regular reports on their impact on the target communities.

Coordinate with government departments and other institutions to deploy relevant schemes and programs in the target GPs.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Work, or a related field.

At least 5 years of experience in livelihood development, rural development, or related fields.

Experience in working with rural communities and understanding of local/indigenous knowledge systems.

Strong skills in training, facilitation, and community mobilization.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
