Academic qualifications:
1. Minimum Graduation; Preferred- Special Educator
2. Knowledge of Basic Science (Minimum till class 12th) or Interest in Science
3. Women aged preferably above 27 years
4. Job requires women with full sight and hearing capacities
5. The job includes national travelling
Professional qualification:
1. 2 to 3 Years in teaching VI or other disabilities
or
2. Experience in Social Work field
3. Training in medical based areas or in disability sector would be an added advantage
Work experience:
1. Previous experience of working with visually impaired persons would be preferable
2. Knowledge of computer
Brief about the Program:
Discovering Hands® trains visually impaired women to use their highly sensitive tactile sense to discover even the tiniest abnormality in the female breast. This concept is and has been successful in Germany, Austria, Columbia, and Mexico. Since 2017, NAB India Centre for Blind Women has successfully running the programme in India.
NAB India Centre for Blind Women and Disability Studies envisioned a dream of financial independence, increased self-worth and happiness for every blind girl in India. NAB India Centre for Blind Women is one of its kind Center for empowerment and rehabilitation of blind women in India. It is also the only center to conduct job mapping studies for blind in India. The Center provides training to both educated and uneducated visually impaired women with the objective of enabling them to gain employment, take up higher education and regain their career after a gap (if there is any, due to late onset of blindness). The Centre enables Livelihood Creation for the visually impaired (VI) women and men by empowering them with skills and training that help them lead a life of dignity and socio-economic independence.
Job description:
a. Train the trainer- Compulsory month-long Trainer’s Training at NAB India Centre for Blind Women, Delhi, for Trainer Certification
b. Training Visually Impaired Women in Essential Skills- Delivering classroom training sessions for visually impaired women according to the prescribed curriculum.
c. Managing Health Camps: Overseeing the smooth operation of health camps
d. Coordination with Medical Tactile Examiners (MTEs) placed in hospitals and camps
