Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter

Through the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter, Habitat for Humanity facilitates more efficient and inclusive housing market systems making affordable housing possible for millions more families. Habitat for Humanity formally launched the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter at the historic Habitat III, which took place in Quito, Ecuador, in October 2016. The Terwilliger Center is one of Habitat’s key commitments towards the implementation of the United Nation’s member states’ New Urban Agenda. The Terwilliger Center consolidates more than a decade of experience in developing market-based solutions for housing and the body of work resulting from these early efforts, formerly referred to as the Center for Innovation in Shelter and Finance. Through the Terwilliger Center, Habitat will accelerate and facilitate better functioning inclusive housing markets to enable more than 8 million people access to improved shelter solutions by 2020

Reason for the hire:  

Habitat for Humanity International Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter is currently seeking an entrepreneurial individual for the role of Manager, Market Systems. He/she will lead the India program efforts to support low income families achieve resilient, durable shelter.

This will be carried out using market-based approaches, including partnering with companies and assisting them in making durable, resilient housing more accessible for the low income segment. Additionally, this position will explore the policy environment of low income housing to make changes in access for low income families. Working in a dynamic environment, this position will devise the strategy and implement the housing market systems program throughout Tamil Nadu with a plan to expand throughout India.

Eligibility Criteria

•Minimum 15 years of total experience, out of which minimum 7 years of experience in affordable housing sector, market systems, value chain or an experienced entrepreneur in related sectors with good business acumen •Demonstrated success in establishing new business partnerships and strengthening existing ones •Prior experience of recruiting, mentoring and managing high performance teams •Experience of financial management of an organization/ unit or region •Experience in market systems programming and value chain analysis
