Job Description

SOIR-IM wishes to recruit a development program professional. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong commitment to the values and mission of fighting poverty, inequality and exclusion and a strong believer in women’s right to come on board with a credible NGO, doing excellent right based work in India.

Reporting to the Country Director, the Advocacy and Networking Officer shall be responsible for partner accompaniment around networking and development of advocacy plan in accordance with SOIR-IM’s overall strategic plan 2019-2023 and build strategic alliances and network using partner’s grassroots actions, learning, research and advocacy ability in coordination with Country Director and following SOIR-IM internal policy framework and directives.

                 

Key responsibilities:

The position includes:

1. Responsible for program management of partners (agreement partners as well as leverage and dialogue partners), supporting and working with partners on development of advocacy strategies and plans, external communication, documenting learnings, results and facilitation of linkages with appropriate networks

2. Responsible for identifying networks, alliances and academic institutions in the three operational states as well as national level   

3. Responsible for facilitation partners learning exchanges and linkages with networks and other alliances and institutions including media for advocating issues affecting the marginalised

4. Responsible for suggesting advocacy partners for selection, conducting assessment, follow up and management in accordance with SOIR-IM’s approach to partnership, Result based management process and qualitative requirements towards societal change,

5. Responsible for ensuring the operations of the partner organisations comply with SOIR-IM’s strategic policies and strategic focus in India and internal accountability requirements;

6. Responsible for developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge and analysis about the partner organisations and their interventions and the context in which they work, networks, results, strengths and weaknesses, capacity requirements along with facilitating the organisational capacity development of partner organisations based on their needs and priorities;

7. Responsible for contributing to organisational learning through developing policy briefs, small research and analysis of evidences from field

8. Responsible and contribute to a professional and positive work environment within SOIR-IM as well as towards partner organisation and other external stakeholders

9. Responsible to contribute to SOIR-IM’s overall capacity development

   

Main working tasks:

1. Facilitating strategic partnerships with designated partner organisations in line with SOIR-IM’s requirements and strategic priorities in the Country

2. Keeping regular contact with the partner organisations for strengthening their advocacy work at different level, acting as a dialogue partner and advisor, ensuring good communication and partnership approach

3. Ensuring the quality of partners’ financial and narrative planning, evaluation and learning, including anti-corruption measures and audit processes

4. Promoting and supporting the application of SOIR-IM’s mainstreaming areas and ensuring that partner organisations act in accordance with SOIR-IM’s policies and requirements

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications: University degree in development studies, social sciences, social work, international relations, human rights or related field. Experience: (1) Minimum seven years of relevant experience within the development sector, particularly involvement in advocacy and networking work; (2) Experience in supporting small and local/national NGOs in their designing and monitoring development projects or core support with advocacy components; (3) Prior experience of working with gender, advocacy, networking and campaign; (4) Understanding of methodologies and capacity building of Civil society organisations and advocacy startegies .

Desired Candidate Profile

Graduation - BSW

(1) in program management, including  advocacy oriented program planning, tracking progress and result oriented reporting;

(2) Good understanding of the dynamics, opportunities and challenges for civil society organizations in India and advocacy;

(3) Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building, networking, presentation, partnership development and internal and external communication skills;

(4) Excellent written and verbal skills in English; Knowledge in Hindi or other regional language

(5) Excellent organizational skills;

(6) Ability to work independently and responsibly and self-leadership, take initiative, but should also be a good team-player;

(7) Ability to meet deadlines work and work effectively on a range of tasks;

(8) Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;

(10) Willing to travel frequently.
