Summary

Charutar Arogya Mandal, which has a 100-acre campus at Karamsad in Gujarat, is a trust set up in 1972 by the late Shri HM Patel, the former Union Minister for Finance and Home. It seeks to provide the best medical care to the rural community and facilities for medical education to the people of Anand and Kheda districts. Under the aegis of the Mandal, a general hospital, Shree Krishna Hospital with 136 beds was initially set up. Over the last three decades since its inception, the hospital has increased its capacity to 600 beds. The hospital receives presently over 1200 outdoor patients and has an average indoor strength of over 300. Most of these patients are from the weaker economic groups and not in a condition to afford the treatment that they need. The hospital itself, through many of its special programmes, attempts to provide its services to the economically challenged persons in a subsidized manner.
