Summary

Friends of Women’s World Banking FWWB initiated its operations in the year 1981. It was established with an aim to provide financial and capacity building services to organizations promoting livelihoods and self reliance of poor women. From 1989 till 2009, FWWB pioneered the micro finance sector by nurturing and supporting many micro finance institutions across India. Its current focus areas are Agriculture Financing covering small and marginal farmer collectives, Water and Sanitation, Solar Energy, and building Women Entrepreneurship. FWWB’s interventions are aimed at increasing women’s participation in collectives and at the community level. FWWB is currently working across 17 states of India through more than 50 institutions.
