Summary

Initiated in 2016, Sinhayana Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization that strongly believes in a ‘community-first approach.’ Built on the principles of social justice, equity and empathy, Sinhayana Foundation believes in creating deep impact within communities that are systematically marginalized. So far, we have worked with urban slum-dwelling communities that largely comprise families of migrant workers who are employed in the informal sector and have extremely limited access to basic resources for survival.

Causes Working On

Initiated in 2016, Dance Out of Poverty is the flagship program of Sinhayana Foundation, an independent, non- profit organisation. The program aims at uplifting children from underprivileged backgrounds and instill passion, creativity and life skills in them through dance. Dance Out of Poverty (DOOP) emerged from our unwavering belief that creativity is a fuel that must exist in the lives of all children. Through this group-based learning programme, children residing in slum communities of Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad are nudged to take control of their own narrative, and to confidently showcase the talent that already resides within them. Right to Dance (RTD) advocates for equal rights to get dance education for all, irrespective of their background. We have an aim to provide free of cost dance education as a stepping stone for creating opportunities and also as a form of movement therapy for children to help them channelise their energy and teach them life skills.
