Summary

A group of like-minded people started the Swapnopuran Welfare Society (SWS) in 2012. The purpose was to improve the lives of poor and marginalized women and children through Child Education, Child Protection, Literacy Program, Women Employment, and Empowerment.

Causes Working On

Swapnopuron Shiksha Niketan is the only English medium school running in the Sundarbans. We began our journey in 2012 and we are working with mostly first generation learners. Children are from families of farmers, bidi workers and daily wage earners who has no access to quality education. We have the main school which is from class Nursery to class 8 currently and under CBSE curriculum. We have learning centers in other islands. We intend to recruit teachers/ resource persons for these developmentally appropriate centers. Art, nature connect, thematic explorations, storytelling, language development activities and Maths are the pillars of our early year programs. We look out for vibrant enthusiastic early educators who will be able to nurture positive relationships with children, families and communities. Teachers who have the passion, imagination and compassion to bring about change.
