Summary

IRCED is an outcome of one successful project implemented for tribal development in Raigad district of Maharashtra State. It is established in the year 1994. About 3000 tribal got rid of Moneylenders debt and achieved self-reliance in accessibility of the food. The volunteers working on Grain Banks project came together and established this organization to replicate this model in other needy areas. In 1994, Govt. of Maharashtra took notice of this model and decided to replicate it in tribal areas of the State. Mr. Kiran Kulkarni founder of this organization received Ashoka Fellowship for conceptualizing the Grain bank idea. IRCED is known for its innovative programmes. Presently IRCED is working in 8 districts of Maharashtra state.and organised 35000 poor and needy women for their empowerment.
