Summary

The birth of SATRA was in the year 2002.On 27th February 2002 Mrs. Jyoti Prava Bora invited few social activists from different parts of Assam her resi- dence where it was decided to form an organiza- tion with a view to work for greater interest of our society. Dr.Dinesh Baishya, former principal of B.Borooah College Guwahati is the man who named the organization as Social Action For Appropriate Transformation And Advancement in Rural Areas (SATRA). Mrs. Jyoti Prova Bora a young lady started SATRA with its head office at Sipajhar and acts as the founder chief functionary. Sri Nani Kr. Saikia guided the organization from the very inception. SATRA was formed, with the motto PEOPLE FOR DEVELOPMENT, DEVELOPMENT FOR PEOPLE, by a group of Social activists of Assam in the year 2002.
