About the Organisation: The Institute for Motivating Self Employment (IMSE) started its journey in 1973, being founded by eminent social worker and humanist Late Mr. Biplab Halim. In the past five decades, the organization has been able to extend help to more than a million people with its pro-poor activities going from micro-level to macro-level. IMSE works to strengthen rural community, in particular small food producers like farmers, fishers, livestock farmers with a focus women, youth and indigenous groups in. IMSE has been able to develop a large network of strong farmer/fishers groups in West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. The focus on empowering the poorest of the poor and to help them develop sustainable livelihood opportunities.
