In 2011, an unanticipated encounter with the women forced into sex work at GB Road motivated Gitanjali Babbar to quit her job of a program officer at NACO. The condition of these women and children shook her soul and she decided to stay back and bring the change in this darkest street of Delhi. The women were abused and exploited, and the children were deprived of basic facilities like quality education & life choices. She chose to teach and empower them while living inside the brothels. A year later Kat-Katha was started and registered under the Societies Act 1860, to scale the reach and its impact.
