Job Description

The Product Manager will work on the development of technology solutions to help scale up social enterprises on a global scale by improving their business operations. This will entail understanding the needs and mapping into effective solutions. The primary focus will be social enterprises that are providing skills training and livelihoods to women artisans in both rural and urban areas.


The product manager will be responsible for concept development and documentation that will be the basis for detailed engineering work. Of primary interests are solutions that simplify hand embroidery design processes and workflow management system that engage with the artisans who work from home. The product manager will need to understand the needs and capabilities of the artisans who will also be users of the technology platform. The business requirements document will be developed with constant inputs from the business leads at Kriti Social Initiatives. This project is being undertaken in partnership with Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  1. Conduct field work amongst the target beneficiaries at various social enterprises to identify the common issues that can be improved through a technological solution.
  2. Develop solution requirements, working backward from the stakeholder and business needs.
  3. Work on defining product features and develop a product road map.
  4. Co-ordinate with Software Development Partners, Social Entrepreneurs, and academicians at a leading US research university (University of Southern California, Los Angeles).
  5. Execute and track progress throughout the software development lifecycle.
  6. Monitor the usage of the product and develop product roadmap for the launch of the next update.
  7. Demonstrate leadership and taking the lead overseeing the activities of cross-functional teams.
  8. The selected candidate will be reporting to the Trustee of Kriti Social Initiatives and also to Senior Faculty at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.


Eligibility Criteria

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a good college
  • The demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience in any of the following fields:
  • Product management in an IT company
  • Social enterprise management
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Detail oriented and data-driven
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Ability to work well in Cross-Functional Teams
  • Ability to work with different stakeholder and also manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Problem solver and initiative taker
  • Motivated, driven and organized
  • Proven passion for Social Entrepreneurship
  • Able to travel


Desired Candidate Profile

Post Graduation - MBA/PGDM

  • Successfully launched products from inception to delivery
  • Involved in the development of marketplace platforms
  • Start-up experience will be an added advantage
  • Experience in working on projects involving Social Causes, Women Empowerment
  • Currently located and worked in Hyderabad

  • About Organization:Kriti Social Initiatives is a not for profit organization working in the slums in Hyderabad on the twin issues of promoting education for children and empowerment of women through training and livelihoods. Kriti was started in September 2009 and our work is centered around the Film Nagar slums in Hyderabad. Over the years, Kriti has worked on a number of initiatives affecting the lives of the slum dwellers including land rights, self help groups, financial inclusion, and recently we have also taken up a project to rejuvenate a lake at the bottom of Film Nagar slums.
