Kriti is a not for profit organisation that promotes empowerment of women and education of children. We work in the slums in Hyderabad. We have various projects with women in the slums spread across the city. One such project is Project Pehchaan in Talabkatta and Yakutpura, old city of Hyderabad. Project Pehchaan is a program to empower and give a sense of identity to women who may be economically active (mostly homebased workers) or not earning income currently. Home based work is defined as remunerative work done within or adjacent to residential premises. The core work in the project is to bring women to the platform of SHGs, which provides them easy access to savings and credit. The other important core activity is to promote livelihoods to empower women.
We are looking for a dynamic professional with some experience and knowledge of running SHGs. The project manager will have the following responsibilities:
Lead formation of new self-help groups
1. Identify new areas or slums in old city that are suitable for SHG formation.
2. Work with team to develop and implement the right approach to form new groups as per the criteria
3. Monitor the performance of the groups by regular interaction with team members with respect to attendance, coming on time, regular savings and timely repayments
Capacity building of groups
1. Work with the groups and the group leaders to transfer responsibilities of book keeping etc to the group leaders
2. Work on formation of clusters of 30-35 groups and create another level of leadership amongst the SHG members
Livelihood promotion for SHG members
Project management
1. Create monthly and quarterly plans for the program with respect to activities, expected outcomes and budget utilisation. Provide monthly reporting on the same
2. Ensure the repayments, attendance and documentation of SHGs is per required norms. Immediately highlight and take action for any deviations.
4. Ensure the MIS reports are updated correctly and create monthly MIS report for the SHGS
5. Identify banks for bulk onlending to the groups and also liase with HDFC for groups bank account opening.
Should have experience in working with Self Help groups or detailed knowledge of how SHGs are run and managed.
Post Graduation - MSW
Skills / qualifications required
- Masters in Social Work or any other related field
- Minimum 2-3 years experience of working with SHGs
- 2-3 years experience of leading a team, preferably in a livelihood promotion project
- Excellent computer skills – Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Good communication skills in English and Hindi
