Background:

Established in 1987, Nari Gunjan, itself expresses (Nari mean Women and Gunjan mean Voice) that this is a women’s organization. It create awareness, provide platform to raise the voice and accessing opportunity for the Rights of Women, particularly of the deprived and marginalized community. Another objective of Nari Gunjan is to help women to become aware of the discrimination and violence meted society by creating educational awareness. Women are made aware of their rights so that they live a life with dignity.

Nari Gunjan strongly believes that obtaining a quality education is the foundation of improving people’s lives and sustainable development. Major progress has been made towards increasing access to education at all levels and increasing enrolment rates in schools particularly for women and girls. Basic literacy skills have improved tremendously, yet children, adolescent and women belonging to most marginalized section of society are still far behind achieving universal education goals. Nari Gunjan, through this project support most marginalized community children and women for their gender equity and women empowerment by providing equal access to primary education to both boys and girls. Coordinator: Job Description

We are looking for an analytical thinker to join our team. As a Program Coordinator, she will be leading the project with the following listed abilities:

• Responsible for monitoring & supervision of Gaya Hostel.

• Prepare monitoring formats and progress reports.

• Contribute in project content development.

• Willing to travel Patna as per requirement.

• Prepare project related documents – PPT /Handbook/ reports/newsletter/etc.

• Networking & liaison with organization / Govt. Department / donor agencies.

• Contribute effectively to state team.

• Develop educational plan for targeted beneficiaries.

• Maintain and update project Petty Cash Book, Stock Book, Student List, and Bills Voucher etc.

• Monitor and interaction with children and other stakeholders.

• Being part of state team support the team in effective reporting of the project.

• Represent the organization in external forums through presentations, networking, publications, and engagement in the development discourse.

• Knowledge of participatory community development approaches

• Knowledge on issues related with Girls Education of Bihar.

• Excellent documentation skill.

• Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using internet and Microsoft Office applications.

• Organized, team player, self-starter and results-oriented individual.

• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken Hindi and English. Knowledge of local language will be an asset.

• Strong integrity, commitment and dedication.

• Strong analytical ability

• Interest in Girls Education

• Physical fitness & willingness to travel / stay in remote areas independently.

Salary Offered: 22,600/- INR (including PF) PM.

• About Organization:To ensure young children (ideal enrollment age: 4 years old) have access to three years of early education and to provide a structured environment for education and peer interaction. To inculcate the concept of savings among the Musahar girls at a young age, we initiated a savings program across the centers. It was a small step to see whether parents will support the girls in the savings program. 9000 women have been a part of the Self – help groups facilitated and formed by Nari Gunjan in Patna and Saran Districts of Bihar. We believe in the mobilization of women through these self-help groups. Since 2002, 932 young girls and women have benefited from our various vocational training centers that run different programs. We have experimented with multiple hobby classes and vocational training centers.
